Strathclyde Police said the officers and two civilian staff had listed themselves as “Jedi” in voluntary diversity forms.
The details were obtained from the force in a Freedom of Information request.
Jane’s Police Review asked 55 forces across the UK how many employees had officially declared their religion as Jedi.
It said Strathclyde Police was the only force to confirm that some of its staff had entered “Jedi”.
Jedi Knights such as Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda are fictional characters in the Star Wars movies.

Said to live “in a galaxy far, far away”, they use “the Force” to battle arch-enemy Darth Vadar and try to help characters who have strayed to the “dark side”.
Jane’s Police Review editor Chris Herbert, who requested the information, said: “The Force appears to be strong in Strathclyde Police with their Jedi police officers and staff.
“Far from living a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, some members of the noble Jedi order have now chosen Glasgow and its surrounding streets as their home.”
A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: “At the time of the request, 10 (eight police officers and two police staff) had recorded their religion as Jedi.”
In the 2001 Census for England and Wales around 390,000 people stated religion as “Jedi”. The Office for National Statistics did not She added that the force monitored “six strands of diversity” – age, disability, gender, race religion and belief, and sexual orientation. The force said the information was provided voluntarily and securely stored.
recognise it as a separate category, and incorporated them with the atheists.
In Scotland the figure was a reported 14,000. Strathclyde is the largest police force in Scotland.
It employees around 8,200 police officers and 2,800 police staff.

I’ve been a practicing Jedi for 10 years now, still stuck on step one of the path to enlightenment, can’t seem to get that light sabre the right colo(u)r as it always seems to be pink and when squaring up to Darth Vader pink just doesn’t cut it.
PH – She likes pink light sabres as well.
These people make me laugh! I’m as much a SW fan as anyone else. Actually, I’m a HUGE fan. Have been since getting the first glimpse in 1976 (before the UK release). But let’s put things into perspective:
1. IT’S NOT REAL!! It’s from a FILM!! A damn good one, yes, but STILL A FILM FFS!!
2. If it WAS real, Jedi is NOT a frigging religion!! That is like saying Lau Gar (Kung Fu) is a religion. It isn’t. The people who originally practiced it were Buddhists. Jedi is the ORDER (like the Knights Templar) and follows Samurai more than anything else.
Also, would you trust your safety/welfare/Ewok to someone who believes he is guided by mind-controlling micro-organisms in their blood?? Thought not.
Fire, ‘cos these idiots should be burned as heretics (and for lampooning Lucas’ finest work!).

LOL. Thanks for showing your true colors. I like how fast the universe can be in showing off people’s true colors.
I was going to say, turn the other Lightsaber but then that might not be the Jedi way…. thanks for the comment.
“Is Yoda willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him Yoda?”
I guess if they are going to fend of crime they should use light sabres, its quicker for them to swing around and hit the bad guys than a heavy sabre.
As long as they come with plenty of batteries!
The worst case scenario would be for the light saber to go out during the middle of a fight and the *bad* guy gets away.
Or an EMP bomb disables them.
They don’t go out, they use Eveready Batteries and Jedi mind control. And that fails they grab a Donor Kebab and lob it at their heads and hope the chilli sauce temporarily blinds them while they deploy the Pepper Spray.
EMP The silent bomb.
