Dreamland is the code name for Area 51. Area 51 is a “secret” military base located about 90 miles north of Las Vegas, Nevada. It is also known as Groom Lake, named for the dry lake bed the military base is sitting on. The size of the base is six miles wide by ten miles long. Recently the Federal government has seized an additional 85,000 acres surrounding the base to keep observers at a distance.
The first documented use of the name Area 51 comes from a film made by the company Lockheed Martin. There are also declassified documents from the 1960s and 1970s that refer to a facility called Area 51. Today, officials refer to the facility as an operating location near Groom Lake when speaking to the public — all official names for the site appear to be classified.
Contained somewhere on the grounds is a large air base that the U.S. government will not discuss. It is considered so sensitive that only those who take an oath of secrecy for life are allowed in. Civilian contractors and others who work at the base are flown in every morning aboard unmarked planes with blacked-out windows. It is said that structures are built deep into the desert floor, with buildings going down thirty to forty stories below the surface.
Many believe that Area 51 is where scientists reverse-engineered alien technology that was recovered from crashes saucers in Roswell, New Mexico; oddly, there seems to be no evidence that the Pentagon has made use of any such advanced technology. “60 Minutes” correspondent Leslie Stahl suggested that the area was not UFO-related but instead a dumping ground for toxic waste.
So, What’s the Big Deal?
Area 51 was first opened in 1955 as a testing facility for the U-2 spy plane being developed by Lockheed Aircraft. Area 51 has since become a popular symbol for the U.S. government Alien / UFO cover-up. Area 51 is supposedly where recovered alien spacecraft are being tested and reversed-engineered to learn how they work.
The U-2 Spy Plane is a confirmed Area 51 project. Lockheed worked with the CIA to develop a plane that could fly at a high altitude and spy on other nations. The U-2 could fly at altitudes of 70,000 feet and be effective in reconnaissance missions for several years. During the development of the U-2, the CIA and Lockheed realized they would soon need more advanced aircraft because the Soviet Union’s missile technology was rapidly catching up. In 1960, the USSR shot down a U-2, confirming this concern.
After all, the military needs places where they can test and develop new helicopters, airplanes, unmanned drones, and other technology away from public eyes. There is, of course, no way to selectively tell the public what’s going on there, even if the government wanted to: spies and hostile foreign governments read the news and watch TV, too.
The A-12, which was later known as the SR-71 “Blackbird,” became the actual successor to the U-2. The A-12 was a prototype model that gradually evolved into the SR-71. These planes could fly up to Mach 3 (2,300 miles per hour) and could fly at altitudes of 90,000 feet.Tacit Blue and Have Blue were the first successful attempts at creating stealth aircraft. Tacit Blue had an odd, whale-like shape, inspiring onlookers to call it “Shamu.” It was designed to fly low over battle operations as a reconnaissance vehicle. Have Blue was a prototype for the F117-A Stealth Fighter. Have Blue first arrived at Area 51 in 1977. The Stealth Fighter remained a secret until the Air Force officially unveiled it to the public in 1990.
Area 51 Projects : AURORA
Aurora is rumored to be a top secret aircraft that has been in development since 1989.It could be a successor to the Mach 3.35 Lockheed Martin SR-71 Blackbird craft that was retired in 1998.
By comparison, extreme reports claim the Aurora could hit up to Mach 11.8. These claims originated in Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine, which ran an article in 1989 about a mysterious entry in the 1985 US budget. The entry said $445 million was attributed to ‘black aircraft production’ under the name Aurora. These reports did not reference a single craft, instead, they discussed a series of planes.Other reports suggest the Aurora programme kicked off at Lockheed Martin’s Skunkworks in 1987. The firm was said to be looking into replacing its SR-71 Blackbird. In November 2013, Lockheed Martin announced it was developing for its SR-72 spy plane. It said the plane can accelerate up to Mach 6, or 4,567mph (7,349km/h) – three times faster than Concorde.
In 1994, Bob Lazar, a controversial figure that allegedly worked at Area 51, said he saw the Aurora from the bus he was on in Groom Lake Nevada. He described a loud roar and square exhausts. He was told that the craft was powered by liquid methane by his supervisor. (Bob Lazar is certainly not a universally trusted source though, he has made the claim that he was a physicist at Area 51 and has talked at length about things he has seen. Unfortunately, it has been very difficult to verify details about him, even things as simple as which schools he went to
Now believed to be a canceled project, the Aurora was supposedly a replacement for the SR-71. It was supposed to be a hypersonic reconnaissance jet capable of attaining speeds up to Mach 6 (4,600 miles per hour). The project may have failed completely, or it may turn out that the Aurora is another kind of UAV and not a jet at all.
Area 51 and Aliens
Conspiracy theorists believe that an alien spacecraft crashed in Roswell, New Mexico, and that the government shipped the wreckage and a body to Area 51 for examination and study. A few go even further, claiming the facility has underground levels and tunnels connecting it to other secret sites, and that it contains warehouses full of alien technology and even living alien specimens. Some theorize that the aliens are actually the ones running the show and that their goal is to create a human-alien hybrid (the aliens seem to have lost the ability to reproduce on their own). Stories cast the aliens in roles from benevolent visitors to evil overlords who subsist on a paste made from ground-up human bits. Air Force representatives have publicly denied that aliens have anything at all to do with Area 51, but that seems to have only strengthened conspiracy theorists’ wilder suggestions.
Despite countless alien investigators pouring over the “evidence” from the alleged UFO crash which reportedly included aliens, both alive and dead inside the wreckage, the riddle has never been solved.
The story goes that on July 7, 1947, rancher W W Brazel told Sheriff George Wilcox he had found “something strange” on his sheep ranch on the outskirts of Roswell.
Mr Brazel stumbled across some rubber, foil, and other debris on the ground and told the Sheriff who alerted the nearby Army base air field.
Major Jesse Marcel, an intelligence officer, was sent to investigate.
Mr Marcel was apparently convinced that the rancher had found the world’s first evidence of aliens and what they were looking at were the remains of a flying saucer.
He, in turn, reported this up the chain, prompting duty press officer Walter Haut, at the now notorious Nevada Area 51 base, to send this out in a news release.
The following day’s edition of the local paper, the Roswell Daily Record, unsurprisingly had the dream headline: “RAAF CAPTURES FLYING SAUCER ON RANCH IN ROSWELL REGION”.
Because the airspace around and above Area 51 is used for test flights and training missions, it is quite possible (and even probable) that you’ll see aircraft flying overhead. Sometimes that aircraft might be exotic, perhaps even unidentifiable to the untrained eye. Even familiar aircraft might fool you into thinking you’ve seen something, not of this Earth. Skeptics point out that many reported UFO sightings coincide conveniently with the scheduled daily arrival of the Janet flights to the base. Many of the formerly classified projects at Area 51 really do look to be otherworldly. UAVs, in particular, seem strange, as they don’t require a cockpit or doors. In addition, many training exercises use bright flares to draw off missile fire or even just to distract onlookers while secret aircraft go through maneuvers.A popular spot to watch for UFOs is the Black Mailbox on Nevada Highway 375. The mailbox belongs to a local rancher and became famous when Lazar said it was the location he’d bring people to in order to watch scheduled test flights of alien spacecraft. Today, the mailbox has been repainted white and the rancher has said many times that he doesn’t believe any of the craft flying overhead are alien in origin.
The Bob Lazar Story

Millions of people have heard Bob Lazar’s story, and a lot of them believe it. The poohbahs of ufology think Lazar is a government disinformation agent assigned to spread lies and muddy the waters about what really goes on at Area 51.
Bob Lazar worked at Area 51 (or Groom Lake) back in the late 1980’s on a back-engineering program that he claims began there in 1979. He says that an ‘exchange’ program with the ETs occurred in the 1970’s, which, resulted in the acquisition of nine UFOs so that their technologies could be researched. That there was indeed strange craft at Area 51 seems to be corroborated by David Adair’s visit there in 1971.
“I really had to cut that loose. I don’t answer UFO emails anymore, so if anyone is thinking of emailing me, I don’t care if you were abducted. I’m sorry to hear about it. Nor do I believe most of the UFO stories.”
In 1989, KLAS investigative reporter George Knapp conducted an interview that forever changed UFO mythology. This is when he first interviewed Bob Lazar live for his Las Vegas viewers. Lazar claimed to have worked in a secret underground lab called S4, 8 miles south of the main Area 51 base. Here he says there were several disc-shaped craft that looked as though they had been damaged. He says he was told they were extraterrestrial, and he noted that they appeared to be built for pilots that were small and humanoid.
Lazar said an anti-matter reactor powered the craft. His drawing of what he called the sport model became the basis for a popular model kit still sold in stores. Many other products were launched too. Tourists arrived outside Groom Lake by bus full, news teams flew in from all over the world, and the state created the Extraterrestrial Highway to cash in on the furor.
For a large part of the 90s Lazar’s claims made big news and became the bedrock for claims of ET technology being horded by the United States government. This has to lead to Area 51 getting the legendary status it currently enjoys, although at the same time it remains a top secret facility.
Lazar told in an interview that the alien craft fly by amplifying gravity waves. According to Lazar the saucer was moved by a reactor placed on the floor. As fuel, the saucer would have an element with atomic number 115, an ore which cannot be synthesized on the earth. The element is also the source of the gravity-A wave which is amplified for space/time distortion and travel.This kind of propulsion would allow making the flying saucers invisible and the discs do not need to travel in a linear mode. That means they can cover a huge distance in very little time. In our physics speed is defined as a distance divided by time. These discs operate by warping time itself and space itself. They break Einstein’s famous rule that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light.
