Are These Bizarre Photos Proof Of Life On Mars?

To most people, the photos taken on Mars by the Curiosity rover appear to look like endless red landscape filled with nothing more than rocks. Yet, there are more than a few imaginative people out there that have decided the photos released by NASA are in fact signs of life on Mars.

It’s been going on for years, conspiracy theorists score through the many photos taken on Mars in pursuit of aliens and other signs of life. According to these individuals, the following photos prove lizards, ghostly ladies and even mermaids are all hanging out on Mars. For the record, experts from NASA claim these photos are mostly to blame on oddly shaped rocks.

Ashwin Vasavada is a scientist currently working on the Mars rover project. In an interview with CNN Vasavada said, “We have color HD cameras on this rover that far exceed anything ever sent to the planet before, and yet in order to find these things that kind of trick your brain into thinking it’s a mermaid or whatever, you do have to zoom in where it’s kind of a fuzzy shadow at that point.”

As much fun as it is to think little ladies and iguanas exist on Mars, Vasavada said, “There is no group that would be (happier) to see such a thing than the 500 scientists around the world who work on this Curiosity rover. So far we haven’t seen anything that is so obvious that it would be similar to what these claims are.”

Then again… scientists aren’t always right…

Some UFO fanatics believe this is a spaceship that at some point crash-landed on Mars.

This photo shows what appears to be a lonely ghost lady roaming near cliffs on Mars.

While this image does look like a tiny woman on Mars, Vasavada explains: “Now, three billion years after that happened, little drifts of sand are following down the hill … when you zoom in and kind of look at the light and shadows, it does look like a little figure of a woman. But she would be a few inches tall and hasn’t moved in months, so we don’t think that’s what it is.”

Conspiracy theorists believe this is not just any rock, but instead an iguana that calls Mars home.

Is this rock really levitating as some speculate, or is it all an optical illusion?

Many people can’t imagine it is anything other than a squirrel crouched between these two rocks.

According to some, this image is proof Planet Earth isn’t the only place where pyramids were built. The ‘pyramid’ pictured is around the same size as a small car, and many believe it is the tip of a much larger pyramid buried under sand.

One blogger sent the Internet into overdrive when they claimed this was a “crab-like” creature on the cliffs of Mars.

Some claim this is a World War I helmet as opposed to a strangely shaped rock.

Before the Curiosity rover, the Spirit rover captured this image in 2008, which some beleive to be a Mermaid on Mars.
