One of the most enigmatic female faces in the history of mankind is undoubtedly that of the Virgin of Elche. Although her clothing reflects her high status, her identity is unknown. But the puzzles are gradually eliminated, and the new hypotheses of the origin of this figure are at least surprising. Is she a lady of ancient Sumeria? Or maybe she was an Anunnaki queen?
The virgin of Elche, discovery
The Virgin of Elche is an Iberian statue in limestone, dating from the 5th and 4th centuries BC. C. It measures a height of 56 cm and weighs 65.08 kg. And it was discovered on August 4, 1897 in Elche (Spain), hence its name.
The farm workers cleaned the southeast slope of La Alcudia hill for agricultural purposes. According to local legend, Manuel Campello Esclapez, a 14-year-old boy who helped, was the discoverer of this masterpiece.
In Elche, everyone knew about the discovery and it was a reason to talk. After it was brought out in the daylight, it was cleaned and exposed on the balcony of the family home, which discovered it. Family friends often came to see the Queen, as she was called.
The virgin of Elche and her journey through life
One day, Don Pedro Ibarra invited the French archaeologist Pierre Paris to his home. When the archaeologist saw the bust, he knew it was a real gem, and later the Louvre Museum in Paris offered the owner a large sum of money: 4,000 francs at the time. Despite his wife’s opposition, the Iberian bust was sold, and on August 30, 1897 the Iberian goddess arrived in Paris. For 40 years, Mrs. de Elche was exposed in the Louvre.

After World War II as a precautionary measure, it was moved to the castle of Montauban, near Toulouse (France), a safer place than the Parisian capital. In 1941 it was recovered by an exchange of works with the Vichy government of Marshal Pétain. The Virgin of Elche has remained in the Prado Museum for 30 years and has been incorporated into the permanent collection of the National Archeology Museum.
What is its origin?
Questions about its origin have not ceased to appear. Who the Iberians were and what their legacy was, are two questions, from which only hypotheses are obtained in response. And there are other researchers who go further, suggesting that the Iberian civilization may have come from the old Sumer and that Virgo is actually an Anunnaki queen.
Erik Von Däniken has revealed many gaps in history, but little by little we can unravel our past. And all these beings that we see here and in other cultures would, according to Däniken, be Anunnaki representatives. He argued that even the Enlightenment paid a man by the name of John F. Moffitt to say that the piece was a fake. The lady of Elche is of Sumerian origin, or an empress of Atlantis who reminds us of Ishtar’s iconography. At least that is Däniken ‘s opinion .
From the same Atlantida, it is ensured that the Basque language comes and that the Castilian does not come from Latin, because those from Malaga and Cádiz are drawn from the Phoenicians. The Castilian, the place where it was discovered, is drawn from the old Phoenician Iberian language.

Moreover, a similar statue was later discovered. This discovery shows that in the distant past, the Earth was engulfed by an extremely powerful civilization that glorified the same god.
The mystery continues to float above this representation and raises many question marks regarding the truth about the past of humanity.
