Stargazers in Oswestry and its bordering regions were left baffled after a series of high-flying lights moved across the skies.

The lights were spotted on Sunday night as they flew over many parts of the UK, prompting a surge in unidentified flying object (UFO) sighting reports and speculation.

Many also reported disturbances to their televisions.

But it was soon quashed on social media, with people stating that the trail of lights belonged to Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites.

For those who were unaware, the sight of up to 30 lights moving across the sky in unison was very confusing.

Jools Payne, of Dolywern in the Ceiriog Valley, said she was outside with a friend when they spotted the lights.

“My friend and I were in the hot tub outside when she noticed a line of, what she thought, was three stars,” she said. “Then more of them appeared and we could actually see they were moving.

“At first, we were a bit freaked out about it, we didn’t know what it was.

“They came up over the horizon and were moving across the sky, to a point where they were directly over the house. We were completely confused.

“I’m not a believer in aliens, but it was really odd – we thought maybe it could’ve been a series of very, very high-flying planes.

“I’d not heard of Space X before, there was a lot of people on social media saying it was that.

“I thought it was freakier than the strobe lights from The Vic in Oswestry when that was a nightclub!”

The satellites have been sent up by Mr Musk’s company SpaceX, and aim to provide fast, cheap internet access to remote areas.

Despite the reality of the lights not being as fascinating as several shooting stars or an alien invasion, Jools said she still feels lucky to have witnessed them.

She added: “I think there was about 30 of them up there, and they were up there for about seven or eight minutes, before they disappeared.

“It looked as though they went into a black hole or something.

“It was a lovely clear night so you could see them all quite well until they disappeared.

“It was a bit strange and freaky, but I actually do feel quite privileged to have seen it.”

Musk should have known better. He frightened way too many people. He should get spanked for that and not ever pull dirty tricks again! It is not fair to human beings. He does not own any of us and is NOT GOD!
