On October 25, 1974, Carl Higdon, a 41-year-old oil industry worker, went hunting during the weekend in the Medicine Bow National Forest in Carbon County, Wyoming. While hunting a deer, he came across an alien, who drugged him before taking him to its planet.

Margery Higdon, his wife, wrote in the book “Alien Abduction of The Wyoming Hunter: First person story of Carl Higdon” that Higdon was a seasoned hunter, but the forest was totally new to him, as he had never been there before. The forest was then revealed to be a remote and unpopulated location with no trace of human presence.

He traveled to the area by car, but then had to go on foot through a small forested hill because of the road’s terrible condition. He suddenly stumbled upon a herd of deer, one of which was a big male with branched antlers, when standing on the other side of the hill.

When Higdon was prepared to shoot the dear, a mysterious thing occurred when his shot was totally silent and the rifle did not recoil at all. He then witnessed in surprise as the bullet flew ahead in greatly slow pace for a few meters, before falling sharply to the ground, like it had hit something invisible.

Then, Higdon suddenly felt that the entire atmosphere surrounding became tense as if it were full of static electricity. He went to pick up the bullet and saw it deformed, possibly because of the collision with something very strong. During that moment, the deer had already run away, but the hunter wasn’t left alone at the place.

Turning to my left, I saw a ‘man’ standing there. At first I thought he was just another hunter so I lowered my gun. Then he moved out of the shadows, into the light, and immediately I realized something was terribly wrong… My heart skipped a beat and my knees were shaking so badly I could hardly stand. I thought, ‘Hell, I should have stayed in McCarthy Canyon like I’d originally planned!'”

Higdon heard the sound of branches crunching, and when he turned to the right, he spotted a human figure in the shade of the trees. It was the size of a tall man, wore a tight black jumpsuit like a diving suit, with a pair of seatbelts as well as a metal belt adorned with a yellow star around its waits.

Bearing the human-like posture, the creature’s head wasn’t similar to that of human, with no ears, small and deep-set eye, open slit mouth with 3 visible giant teeth. Two of what appeared to be short antennae emerged from his forehead, while the hair looked like straw and stood straight up.

The entity didn’t appear to have a neck at all, with an eerie head located directly on its shoulders, merging with the body. Its arms were greatly extended, one of which had something looked like a chisel at the place of what should have been a wrist at the end, while the remaining arm didn’t have any wrist at all.

The mysterious creature gazed at Higdon for a while, then slowly moved towards him, asking “How are you?” in English. An astounded Higdon replied “Okay” after several seconds. The creature then nodded and walked even closer. It didn’t look threatening, even asked Higdon if he was hungry.

Ausso one

The creature did wait for Higdon to reply, he immediately pulled out a plastic bag from somewhere, using telekinesis to give it to the hunter, who was able to caught the package and found 4 pills inside. The pills were claimed by the creature to be able to keep Higdon full for the day. Higdon swallowed one before storing the rest in his pocket.

The entity eventually gave a brief introduction about itself, saying that its name was “Ausso One” before pointing to a transparent cube-shaped object, similar to a large box-shaped spaceship behind it. The spaceship had no entrance, no windows and no landing gear, just stood on the ground.

As we took off, I found myself strapped down to this seat with my hands held fast to the armrests of the chair. My legs were similarly bound.”

Ausso asked if Higdon wanted to go on a ride, and Higdon somehow found himself entered the spaceship before he could even reply, as if he was teleported. The hunter couldn’t figure out how he fit into such small space, but he was stunned to find that his arms and legs were confined with some kind of ribbons.

When Higdon started to calm down, he saw some kind of force field where five deer were floating, frozen. Higdon was sure they were the same deer he had observed in the clearing, before noticing another creature similar to Ausso inside the spaceship. It approached Higdon and put a helmet on his head.

The ship then took off, allowing Higdon to see through the transparent walls how they went up and his car lying at the bottom of the hill. The spaceship moved higher before reaching Earth’s orbit. Then Higdon and the aliens flew into deep space around 163,000 light years from Earth, ending up on a new planet where the ship came close to a big tower.

Ausso One, who had so cordially offered Higdon food pills and a ride around the cosmos, did not explain the presence of the other humans, but patiently explained to the anxious oil man that they had touched down on a planet that was 163,000 “light miles” from earth.

There were several colored lights revolving like powerful searchlights around the tower, so bright that Higdon couldn’t open his eyes. He hardly remembered what happened next. He saw a group of people outside at some point, but failed to figure out the reason they were there and who they were. Ausso then informed Higdon that his species often traveled to Earth to go hunting.

Higdon would then be moved to a room where he was scanned by some kind of device, before Ausso told him that he did not fit for their intention, and they would send him home. The aliens returned to Earth as fast as they flew away. Ausso retrieved the pill package from Higdon, before attempting to take his rifle, but then said that he was forbidden to do so.

Subsequently, the extraterrestrials vanished, while Higdon ended up in the middle of the forest, totally disoriented and scared. He wandered around until he found what he later realized to be his car. Thanks to radio, he was able to produce a distress signal before sitting back in the car and shivering while waiting for help.

Consequently, they found that in the invent of the alien abduction, there were some people who saw mysterious lights in the sky. Meanwhile, the frightened Higdon was quite confused to say anything upon the discovery. He kept mentioning the bullet that was flattened out when it struck something invisible. Regressive hypnosis was used to retrieve most of his memories.

Afterwards, doctors conducted medical investigation on Higdon, only to find that the scars left from his long-term tuberculosis on his lungs had vanished, together with the stones in his kidneys. A flattened bullet was found in the pocket of his jacket, and research showed that it could only get such damage if it hit a very hard surface, harder than wood or stone in the forest.

Later, Higdon was repeatedly called a fraud, who supposedly invented all this to become famous, but at least the strange fact of finding his car in a place where it could not be in any way according to the laws of physics shows that this story is real.
