The surprising declaration was made by the Iraqi Transport Minister Kazim Finjan in 2016 while he was on a business trip to Dhi Qar. He asserts that the Sumerians actively traveled around the solar system and had a spaceport of their own.
Around 7000 years ago, between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in Mesopotamia—later known as Babylonia and currently located in Iraq and Syria—the Sumerians were a sophisticated civilization. In terms of architectural beauty, the Sumerian pyramids are equal to the Egyptian pyramids. The purpose of the enormous structures known as Ziggurats, which were built in ancient Mesopotamia, has been explained in a number of ways, including the interest of ufologists. Nobody expected the official to make that statement.
Anu (god of the sky), Enki (god of water, knowledge, mischief, crafts, and creation), Enlil (god of the wind), Inann (the queen of heaven) and Utu (god of the Sun) were among the many deities worshiped by the Sumerians.
Along with other things, they invented the wheel, Cuneiform writing, geometry, irrigation, saws and other tools, sandals, chariots, harpoons, and beer.
Finjan thinks that 7000 years ago, in the ancient cities of Eridu and UR, the first airports and spacecraft platforms were built. Unfortunately, the minister offered no justification for how the Sumerians came to possess such knowledge or for why there is no proof of their existence.
Scientists have numerous theories
Professor Kamal Aziz Ketuly reported seeing three Sumerian clay tablets containing Cuneiform writing and drawings from around 3000 BC while touring the Sumerian wing of the Iraqi Museum in Baghdad. On one of the tablets, he claimed to have found heliocentric representations of the Solar system. Additionally, “Mesopotamians had a calendar with months and years starting in 3000 BC, suggesting that the Moon was studied at that young age. They also investigated heavenly bodies.
The origins of multi-tiered temples are the subject of numerous scientific theories. One of them is the requirement to preserve the building’s good condition for as long as possible given that it was made for the gods. As a result, each additional tier was built on top of the previous one.
